CTD#231 - Sweet Birthday Wishes

Hello friends!  I hope you're ready for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge because it's sure to get you in the mood for spring.  Our hostess for this week is Broni who chose these bright cheerful colors and fun inspiration photo.
For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Strawberry Patch & Strawberry Patch Sentiments along with the coordinating dies to create a birthday card.  I started out with a crumb cake card base, added a barley banana embossed panel and a horizontal strip of melon mambo which I stamped using the pattern stamp from the Strawberry Patch set.  I die cut and stamped my tag using the leaves from the set and a sentiment, then die cut and stamped the individual berries, flower and two leaves.  Before adhering my die cut pieces to my tag I added a little bit of shading to each piece using my Copic markers.  Once I had all my pieces taped down to my tag I added my ribbon with button and added it to my card front.

SSSC#178 - You Make my Days Brighter

Happy Sunday to you!  I'm late getting my card posted for today's Sweet Sunday Sketch, it seems that I can't catch up this week, life has been crazier than it usually is and on top of that my little guy is sick...again.  If you've been following my blog lately I've been posting cards and projects that all have a common theme to them and that's SPRING.  I think I'm hoping that if I post enough spring themed projects spring will make it's appearance soon then later.  With that in mind, the card I have for today uses the PTI Friendship Jar Spring Fillers.  I used the tulip image from that set and wanted something cheerful so I colored them in shades of yellow using my Copic markers.  For my sentiment I used the PTI set Happy for You and the lattice impressions plate to add some texture to my background.
Be sure to visit each of the Sweet Sunday Stampers below for more samples using the SSS sketch!

Hello Lovely

Today I've got a card I'm sharing for the Papertrey Ink Color Inspiration Contest.  The challenge was to chose from one or more of the color combinations provided on the PTI site and create a card or project using those colors.  For my card I wanted to use the colors from the color inspiration no.6 with its bright fun colors and I was also inspired by the floral tag in the inspiration photo.  Along with the colors and the thought that I wanted use florals I also was inspired by one of Erin Lincoln's cards that she picked as one of her favorites using the Chevron border die.  Erin has such a fun eclectic style and I loved the way she die-cut and pieced her Chevron stripes, so I decide to give it a try.
For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Happy for You for my sentiment and Fillable Frames #5 with the coordinating die.  I ended up using several different floral stamps from the Flower Fusion sets and Natural Beauties and randomly stamped onto a white piece of cardstock.  Then I die-cut three stripes from my stamped piece using my Chevron die, trimmed them down to fit my card and added a few designer paper pieces and a few pink pieces which I embossed using the Simple Stripes Impression plate.
Thanks for stoppin' by!

Daffodils

Hello there!  People who know me well know that I love reading, well last year two of my sister-in-laws and I started a bookclub along with some friends.  Each month we have a bookclub meeting and some times we have a theme for our meeting.  Some times it's according to what we decide to read for the month and some times it's not.  Well for the month of March we are planning on having a Spring/Yellow theme for our meeting and so I wanted to create a few gifts for each of the women in our group.
I'm also entering these two project in the Papertrey Ink 6 Year Anniversary Challenges that started on the 5th of this month. For my first project I used a PTI stamp sets Year of Flowers Collection and Garden Variety II along with the coordinating die and picket fence die to decorate a glassine bag (filled with lemon drops). I stamped the daffodil image from the set and colored it with Copic markers, then added my die-cut and stamped Garden Variety II seed packet frame and used the Year of Flowers Titles stamp set for the Daffodils along the bottom. At the top the top of my package I added a small die-cut Tiny Tag with a sentiment from the Friendship Jar Spring Filler set and a button.
For my next project, I created a spring bookmark.  I wanted to come up with a way to incorporate one of my favorite poems (yes I also love poetry/poetry books) and to use it on a bookmark but also use this daffodil image.  At first I was going to use vellum to create a pocket on the front of the bookmark but decide in the end to add a banner that I could attach my image to going down the front, which could be lifted or twisted in order to read the poem beneath.  To add some color on the actual poem I randomly stamped the same daffodil image in yellow.  You can click on the last photo on the bottom of this post to enlarge it so you're able to read the poem if you'd like.
Thank you so much for your visit!

CTD#228/PTI - Thought of You Today

Hello there!!!  I'm running late with my post this morning, but I've got it together now.  It's time for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge which is always fun.  Our hostess for this week's challenge is Tammy who picked the perfect colors for this time of year.
The card I have for today is not only for the CTD challenge but I'm also entering it into the Papertrey Ink Anniversary Challenge, which is to create a card or project inspired by one of the design team members favorite projects from last year.  All of the design team members on the Papertrey Ink team are all so amazingly talented and I find inspiration in each of their styles but for my card I chose one of Melissa Phillips cards.  One of the card's Melissa chose as her favorites from last year was one where she used layered felt flowers, so that's what I used as my inspiration.  I used the PTI stamp sets Happy for You for my sentiment, Medallions for my background and even though it's hard to see, I stamped flowers on my pink pirouette piece from the set Natural Beauties.

SSSC#177/PDCC#167/PTIMIM#102 - Happy Birthday

Hello, hello!!!  I don't know about you but I'm ready for spring.  Looking out my window today and seeing all the fresh falling snow is beautiful but I'm longing for green grass and flowers and that's what inspired my projects today.
Today is the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #177.  Karen has another fabulous sketch for us to create with and we hope you'll take the time to join in on the fun.
For my card and pillow box birthday set, I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Embroidered Blooms along with the coordinating flower and Turning a New Leaf dies.  I'm also entering this set in The Play Date Cafe Color Challenge #167 and my pillow box in the Papertrey Ink Make-it-Monday Challenge #102.  The colors for The Play Date Cafe challenge are my absolute favorite colors, they're colors I wear and colors I have in my home so I knew I had to join in and create a project for it.
The closest thing I have to magenta for paper is pink passion so that's what I went with for my flowers and ribbon.  A few details about my card and pillow box: the daffodil delight background panel and Happy Day die-cut piece on the pillow box were randomly stamped with flower images from the EB set and then embossed using a PTI impressions plate for added texture.  The Embroidered Blooms leaves were stamped several times on the white focal panel on my card and then I die-cut and stamped a set of the leaves and cut them apart to add around my pink flower.
