CTD#211 - Happy Bird-day

It's time for the Color Throwdown #211!  Our hostess this week is Wanda who has some wonderful colors for us to create with.
For my card I was missing a few of the colors for this week's challenge so I substituted for what I had.  I didn't have Summer Starfruit or Sahara Sand so I opted for Kiwi Kiss and Natural Ivory instead.  The colors that Wanda chose could be used in so many ways as you'll see by the design team samples.  You could keep it serene like the inspiration photo or play it up and use the colors to make a fun Halloween, fall or in my case a birthday card.  I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Bitty Bird & Bitty Bird Additions along with the coordinating dies and Think Big Favorites #12 for my sentiment.
Supplies: Think Big Favorites #12, Bitty Bird, Bitty Bird Additions + dies, My Mind's Eye designer paper, Simple Stripes Impressions Plate, Mat Stack die, Heart border die, Ribbon, Scallop border punch, Buttons, Bakers twine, Foam tape.

CTD#210 - Blooming Button Bits Birthday Card

Hello there!  It's time for the Color Throwdown Challenge #210.  Our hostess for this week's challenge is Tammy who chose these wonderful colors.

I hope you can join in on the challenge this week, we'd love to see what you create. If you don’t have these exact colors, it’s no problem....just substitute with what you have that’s close to this week’s colors. Once you’ve finished your card/project, be sure to add a direct link to your creation using the linky tool provided on the CTD blog so we can see your creation. If you upload to an online gallery, don't forget to use the keyword CTD210.
The card that I created was a birthday card for my sweet friend Vicki {hi Vicki}, I used the Papertrey Ink stamp sets Blooming Button Bits, Happy Hexagons and Mat Stack 4 Collection.  After really looking at the inspiration photo and seeing how the flowers seem to have patterns and texture to them I decided on trying to give my card some different textures as well.  For the top solid panel I stamped the flowers from the Button Bits set then embossed it using a herringbone embossing folder which I thought would coordinate with the herringbone Mat Stack stamped image for my sentiment.  I also added texture by using a few different patterns while stamping my hexagons and used only the more muted colors for my hexagons so that my flowers would be sure to pop and my card would be overly busy.
Be sure to check out what the other design team members have come up with for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge!

CTD#209 - Autumn Blessings

Hello there!  I'm excited to be your hostess this week over at the Color Throwdown blog!  I don't know about you but fall is my favorite time of year, with the cool crisp air, warm sweaters, colorful leaves, the cider mill and so much more, so the colors I chose for this week's challenge are warm fall colors. I found the terrific wreath picture below on the Internet for our inspiration, I really liked all the different textures within the picture, everything from the woodgrain of the fence, the leaves & sunflowers to the grapevine of the wreath.

I hope you can join in on the challenge this week, I'd love to see what you create. If you don’t have these exact colors, it’s no problem....just substitute with what you have that’s close to this week’s colors. Once you’ve finished your card/project, be sure to add a direct link to your creation using the linky tool provided on the CTD blog so we can see your creation. If you upload to an online gallery, don't forget to use the keyword CTD209.
For my card I used a combination of Papertrey Ink stamp sets and dies, I started out with a chocolate chip card base, then a panel of naturals ivory with a really rust panel on top of that which was embossed using a PTI woodgrain impressions plate and sponged around the edges.  Next I added a one inch strip of chocolate chip cardstock with scallop border to the lower portion of my card, then added my ribbon, sentiment and buttons with twine.  Then once I was done playing with the arragement of my leaves, acorns and sunflowers (which I added some shading to with Copic markers) and had them taped down to my mat stack die cut pieces I added that to the top portion of my card to finish it off.
Supplies: Simple Sunflower + dies, Autumn Acorn + dies, Mat Stack dies, Woodgrain Impressions Plate, Lables die, Scallop border die, Ribbon, Buttons, Twine, Copic markers, Foam tape.

SSSC167 - Sending Sunshine

It's time for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #167.  I know you're going to love the sketch that Karen has for all of us to create with for the next two weeks, it's so versatile and could be used with several different stamp sets.
For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Simple Sunflower (one of my fav's) and went with a fall colored theme.  I started out with a chocolate chip card base, then a panel of white and on top of that a panel of cherry cobbler which I had stamped using the large sunflower image.  I then added my old olive banner and the embossed polka dot summer sun piece, then I tied on my ribbon and added my focal circle piece with the sunflowers and sentiment.
Be sure to visit each of the Sweet Sunday Stampers below for more samples using the SSS sketch!

First Day of School

Hi there!  Today is our official first day of school for my three kids and so I thought I would share the card and little gift I had for my youngest son's teacher.  I've had such a crazy feeling today as I realize that my oldest son is a senior, my daughter a sophomore and my youngest son is in kindergarten.  All three of them were gone ALL day today, the house was so quiet and I was able to get so much done.  I know I'll miss my youngest being home in the afternoons but I also know I'll enjoy some free time.
I found this cute little note pad with pen and post-it notes at TJMaxx (love that store) and slipped it into a plastic gift bag, twisted it up and added my decorated clothes pin to hold it closed.
Supplies: Tart & Tangy - SU, Flower Fusion - PTI, Circle punches, Scallop circle punch, Star punch, Button, Bakers twine, MME dp, Photo corner punch, Spiral punch, Ribbon, Chevron border die - PTI, Clothes pin.  Colors: Real Red, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight.
